Biden could use Patriot Act against conservative parents
DOJ response educational activists suggests the Biden administration is open to using domestic terrorism laws against conservatives and organizations pushing back against CRT.
The Department of Justice announced Monday that the FBI will be working with federal attorneys along with state and local leaders to counteract what it says is a “rise in criminal conduct towards school personnel.”
The letter itself did not cite any specific threats but came less than a week after the National School Boards Association sent a letter demanding the Biden administration examine whether they could use the Patriot Act against parents upset that schools across the country are teaching their grade school children Critical Race Theory.
“NSBA believes immediate assistance is required to protect our students, school board members, and educators who are susceptible to acts of violence affecting interstate commerce because of threats to their districts, families, and personal safety,” the letter stated. “Many public school officials are also facing physical threats because of propaganda purporting the false inclusion of critical race theory within classroom instruction and curricula.”
The NSBA’s letter claimed concerned parents were engaged in a form of “domestic terrorism.” The DOJ’s letter said they plan to form a task force with the FBI and the DOJ’s National Security division to combat any threats.
The quick response from the DOJ to educational activists’ demands suggest the Biden administration could be open to using domestic terrorism laws and tactics against conservative parents and organizations pushing back against Critical Race Theory.
