'Shut them down': GOP congressman praises Southwest pilot strike
GOP Rep. Chip Roy praised Southwest pilots for walking out on the airline over their COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
GOP Rep. Chip Roy praised Southwest pilots for walking out on the airline over their COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
“And I am 100% behind them. Tell @SouthwestAir to shove their “we LUV employees” nonsense,” Roy said Sunday in a tweet. “Shut them down. And when they come begging for a bailout - not one @HouseGOP or @SenateGOP should support them. #HealthcareFreedom”
Southwest had 1,800 flights canceled over the weekend. The cancellations appear to be the result of a “sickout” by pilots protesting the company’s vaccine mandate.
The airline tried to claim the delays were the result of weather but the Southwest Airline’s Pilot’s Association has confirmed there was an unauthorized strike by pilots.
Southwest implemented a vaccine mandate on its employees after the Biden administration had ordered all large companies to put one in place or face fines.
